View original postI think it is funny that your choice for a Belgium recipe comes an American magazine.
Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but I figured that giving you a recipe in Dutch or French would've made things a bit tricky for you.
View original postWhen you are a country of immigrants you can expect your food to be the same. But sorry I have eaten a lot "authentic" food from other parts of the world and I am not buying the America ruined it argument. If you go to a high quality restaurant in Hong Kong you will get better food Chinese food then you will get at a strip mall in Fish Kill NY but that is the quality of the restaurant not the quality of the food. These arguments seem to boil down to "it isn't they way momma made it".
No, indeed, I don't say America "ruined" it - just changed it. It's not necessarily better or worse - the mass-produced supermarket versions are probably worse, but in restaurants it's something else.
View original postBeing from Texas I get tired of people talking about authentic Mexican food compared to TexMex like some how the Mexican Americans living in Texas are somehow unworthy of a distinct food style but I have eaten plenty of authentic Mexican food and I will take a fajita or an Austin street taco over eating crickets any day.
I think it's just the same point as with the Chinese food as we know it in the West - that actually this is really not the stuff the people in those areas eat on a daily basis, or only the wealthy ones. In here most people would know TexMex food as simply "Mexican" - restaurants will bill themselves as Mexican and not say anything about Texas (sorry ). So yeah, it's a fair point to remind folks that actually most Mexicans eat different things.
Alright, Paul. Where is that gumbo review?

Try to get a restraining order against it, or have yourself put in protective custody.
