Huh. Spinach, potatoes and lardons? That's a classic?

View original postBelgian friends of my aunt passed on the meat stewed in dark beer with onions method, and that became a family favourite since my childhood. I still cook it.
Good to hear! That reminds me that on one of the really not that frequent occasions that I made an effort in the kitchen, I produced a tourtière that wasn't bad at all... should try that again.
View original postA friend from Brussels who spent a month at our place many years ago also cooked us a dish with spinach, potatoes and lardons, which he claimed was a classic. It was also pretty good.
I'm not aware of that being a thing, but okay, can't be bad. I'm thinking more Brussels sprouts with lardons, but why not spinach, I guess.
View original postA current colleague of mine treated us to waffles last december (when the various teams at work at to host in turn a breakfast for all the others). He had the flour, a special type of sugar and the waffle iron sent from home for this. It was really good. He made another Belgian pastry, but I forget what it was.
Bruxellois or Liègeois? Most of the tourists make a big fuss out of the former, and of course it looks better as desserts in restaurants go, but there isn't much that beats a hot gaufre liègeoise when walking through town in winter.
Alright, Paul. Where is that gumbo review?

So what you're saying is, if I liked it that means it's awful?

Try to get a restraining order against it, or have yourself put in protective custody.

Not a whole lot of American mayonnaise is edible. No wonder so many here find it disgusting. *NM*
