Yes, it was unfortunate to mention increased security for the Jewish community and the Muslim one in the same breath - the threats facing both are certainly not of the same order of magnitude. But it's true that mosques have been targeted just like synagogues, and let's not kid ourselves: things just don't work out so neatly that those Muslims who are the victims of racism or Islamophobia are always those who are themselves guilty of anti-semitism and deserving of a lesson in kind. Most of the victims of racism or racially/religiously motivated violence are the innocents. In my city, we had an incident (during the last Gaza conflict) where an elderly Jewish lady fell and called a doctor, who showed himself reluctant to come help her, because of what was going on in Gaza). He was roundly condemned from all sides and officially reprimanded - but would the same situation have been any less bad if the lady had been Iraqi and the doctor had referred to IS? And it's not like that wouldn't happen.
Mind you, I'm not saying the media, particularly the leftist media, is blameless. They do indeed show a bias and seem to have expectations of Israel that are just not realistic or reasonable. But there's a point where finding an insult or "anti-semitism" in every unfortunate word choice crosses the line into paranoia. Netanyahu's own statements to European Jews were a lot more insulting than the Metro reporting on them.
