if paying $1000 for a pack of twizzlers meant a generation or more of peaceful co-existence, and a lifetime of American opportunity and prosperity then it would be a very cheap pack of twizzlers, indeed.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but should we now trust the terrorist organization to keep their word? A whole generation (or more) of peaceful co-existence....and the American opportunity and prosperity (as if they were the only factor in that)? Come on now man.
They traded us their baggage...someone of so little value that they couldn't stand it. And they got 5 of their own guys out. They only reason one would do that is because the very concept is so crazy...the sheer possibility is worth going for. If this was a movie, we would have rigged the five prisoners/terrorists to explode like Joker did that guy in The Dark Knight . Sadly, we probably gave them food for the trip home.
