But if I only have two choices:
- Release the upper command of the Taliban.
OR
- Let him rot.
Then I would let him rot. The point is that we didn't have only those two choices from everything I've heard.
the actual choices are:
- get Bergdahl released as is US policy going back to the early days of our military of never leaving Americans to die on foreign soil
OR
- let Bergdahl be the first US soldier to die as a POW since the Vietnam war, knowing that his health is failing and this might be the last chance to get him out alive.
obviously, since Obama is president and negotiated his release, therefore it must be the worst military decision since forever because .... i guess Benghazi? the IRS? honestly, disagree with the choice of prisoners to swap but the fact remains that releasing Bergdahl is part and parcel of how the US is expected to act towards its fighting forces.
on that note, what the hell is wrong with all of you that you can't accept that we are bringing home an American soldier who is in serious danger of dying in captivity? this is one of those things that should transcend politics but yet republicans insist on making it political because they have nothing else to do but be outraged over the minutiae of Obama's presidency. i wish Obama would come out in favor of breathing just so i can watch all the republicans hold their breath indefinitely just to spite him.
