We sent him over there and I think we should have done what is reasonable to bring him back. Even he had been been captured on patrol I don't think we should have released five high value tragets and I think it shows a seriuos question in Obama's judgment, not that I really think he has any. If we had released some number of of low level prisoners as part of an actaul prisoner exchange that might be one thing but we released terrorist leaders.
There does not to be an investigation into how he was captured and if he willing walked into the hands of the enemy he should be tried and locked away for life because we lost soldiers trying to recover him.
i completely agree that, if he truly deserted he should face his accusations in a tribunal/courtmartial. he still should have been brought back though, because that is the kind of thing the US used to stand for, and it's a shame that some people can't see past the partisan divide long enough to actually serve their country.
