the VA has been having problems for years now, and it's been a slow dance between the Obama administration dragging their feet and House republicans opposing any and all legislation that originates from the president. this correlates to years-long waiting lists just to be given benefits, much less see a doctor. it's a bigger tragedy all around, and should have gotten much more attention two years ago when it first broke, but that's the way these things go sometimes.
