BTW, given that there is no Russian word for 'the' and given that even Russian news media uses 'v' rather than 'na' for events in Ukraine, why are you sticking to the idea of using 'the' as being pro-Russian and not using it as anti-Russian?
If anything, using 'the' gives the impression that Ukraine is not a separate and independent entity from Russia. And whatever else you may believe/what we may discuss about identity politics, Ukraine is its own separate nation-state.
