I'd definitely do better at summing up American presidents than Belgian PMs - most Belgians would, I suspect, American presidents tend to have somewhat more influence on the world). So it makes sense in a way
I, myself, can list the monarchs of the Seven Kingdoms Westeros better than those of England. In my elementary school, third graders were expected to list the Presidents in order, to the extent that I was astonished after leaving school to discover how rare that level of knowledge is even among American adults with a basic education. At one family holiday gathering I actually blew my relatives away with my ability to list all the states inside five minutes. There was an episode of "Friends" with that very game as a plot, and I spent the episode staring dumbfounded at the very notion that half a dozen college graduates could not do that. Then I found out it was not an inaccurate reflection of the level of general knowledge, which dialed back my expectations. Once I started teaching though, I opened every year of American history with a quiz demanding they identify the states on a map. I also made them do Europe & the Middle East when they bitched about it.
