I mean, its an old argument, right? Student Athletes believing they are worth more to their schools than the money they receive in scholarships and, let's be honest, they have a point. Unionizing seemed ridiculous, a publicity stunt.
But, perhaps unsurprisingly for Northwestern Students, it seems these guys have done their homework and are getting some tentative support. If nothing else, it will be a way for them to force the conversation into a legal setting and if the case is heard anywhere near Chicago, a big union town, then they may have a shot at winning some concessions.
Whether their Union could then function as a union may be something else entirely. I think a big part of this will be whether or not the union is recognized by the NFLPA.
