Alright, this is the sort of thing that the site of old used to be very good for. I'm in a bit of an existential crisis. I had iPad 2 for 2 years; it was a present. It broke, I got a free replacement, but my data was lost. So in a fit of ire, I gave it away to a friend and vowed not to buy any more Apple products.
Now I need a replacement. I use a tablet primarily for Internet browsing, and also for taking notes. It's great if I can read books on it too. I decided to go with a smaller size tablet because the iPad was too heavy to carry every day.
After some research, I bought Nexus 7. I don't know if I like it. The screen is very small, but I guess that's to be expected. I feel like it's too bright and causes more eye strain. After using it for 6 hours last night, my eyes are tired this morning. The Kindle app is very awkward, very difficult to highlight a word (poor touch sensitivity). Battery life is significantly worse than iPad, even though it's smaller. Yet everything I read told me that it's the best tablet.
What should I do? I've had Nexus for 2 days. I always hate new things. I think I can try to return it, but then what? What tablets have you used and loved/hated?
This morning I was thinking, I wish there was a tablet with an e-ink screen. Not bright, gentle on the eyes, large font, well-proportioned, responsive screen. Another alternative is to get something very cheap, and then I can't complain - at least it's cheap.
Do I have a size problem? Maybe I need a bigger size? I do wish there were more tablets the size of the mini iPad - bigger than 7 inches, smaller than 10.
Help.
