And another point on veggies and fruits being luxury goods. You can get a head of lettuce for a couple bucks. A few apples and a bunch of bananas for the same. 6 bucks for all the fruits and veggies 1 person needs for a week. I don't really see how that's luxury goods.

Well, that point is more that for the average American, that's way more than they'd eat. You can pretty much make a salad a day with a head of lettuce. It isn't really all the veggies you need but a salad a day is much more than most people get.
