I have a serious fear of pregnancy/childbirth. I'd say it was rational, not pathological, if not for my morbid fascination with all that stuff. Every once in a while, I'll spend hours reading about all the awful things that happen to you and retraumatize myself again. Worst, there's a chance I'll vomit all that information back up. This is how my boyfriend knows what an episiotomy is.
So I'd like to share with you the latest thing I've found on the Internet. A blog with submissions of women speaking about how pregnancy and giving birth changed their bodies. With pictures. I feel so bad for them. It's so awful and depressing. Not because good looks are essential to happiness, but they experience a permanent loss, their bodies are warped forever, the lack of control over what happens to them.
Warning: the site has pictures of breasts.
I can see where you're coming from, but obviously a lot of people disagree with you. Doesn't mean you're wrong, just means you have a different view of what your body and your body's image means.
A lot of people think pregnancy is the best thing that can happen to a person... others fear it to death. You'll never really know until you've been through it, though
Obviously a lot physical and emotional changes are involved.. it's just not possible otherwise. Honestly, I agree with you and I can't really see how people would call those changes "attractive"; that said, they can rationalize it as being "worth it" since having a child is an emotional connection that you'll have forever.
OK, now flame away
