So my laptop recently died on me, not unexpectedly (I'd had it since February of 2010, and it got plenty of use).
So I ended up with a used Kindle Fire, ordered off of eBay. Not a bad little machine, it does perfectly well what I need it for (watching video, reading ebooks, etc) mostly.
But I've had several friends suggest rooting it. I don't know much about this stuff, so I am looking for input from you good folks.
Should I root my Kindle Fire or not? I understand this will open up a lot of apps to being able to work on my Kindle, mostly all the stuff available in the app store that Google has.
IF I DO root the Kindle, will I lose the data that is on it? Will I lose the apps already there? Uncertainty on this issue has led me to not purchase any apps yet that cost any amount of money (don't want to chance having to pay for it again; unemployed broke ass ya know).
Thanks for your input!
