View original postGood idea! I have one that we aren't using right now, cluttering up my closet under the stairs. It would be easy enough to rig up lighting for each shelf. . Now to find the right lighting...

View original postLEDS! Unless you want some heating effect too, they're still a touch pricey but you can get ones that give off virtually nothing but the frequencies for photosynthesis, so lower electric bill (unless you need a higher temp anyway) and you can probably even ratchet up the luminosity to take advantage of the higher CO2 concentrations in your house.

View original postI have looked only a little bit, but I have only found the CFL ones. I already use LED bulbs in my house, and a, slowly replacing my CFL with LED.

Yeah, got a good deal on a few a couple years ago and I've been switching over slowly too.

View original postI don't need to worry about electric bill because I don't have one. It's battery amp hours I need to think about. Now to find the LED grow bulbs. Do you know what they're called if I don't type the proper terminology for the search?

LED Grow Bulbs, LED Grow Lamps, googles them up. They tend to come from different manufacturers then the guys who focus on house lighting and sell more indoor/greenhouse and hydroponic gardening accessories, it's still a bit niche even by LED light standards, less plug and play more think and customize. Small niche but big enthusiastic smart crowd so there's a lot of blogs and youtube videos discussing the pros and cons you can review before picking a supplier and lamp.

Yeah, my view too, probably still premature for most applications, still a bit of pricey toy for garden enthusiasts, pot growers, and NASA. I actually stuck that on my mental pro/con list for marijuana legalization, legalize it and it might hurt the LED grow lamp market in developing economy of scale
