Your point being? Killing people is whole point of guns.

i know this topic has been exhaustively discussed here, but i thought this was something worth sharing as a means of putting something more concrete into the discussion.
Slate magazine has released an interactive map of all of the gun deaths in the US since the killings in Newtown. keep in mind this webpage is only linking homicides, i haven't seen any suicides in their map other than murder-suicides, but i also have not gone through all 1600+ links to test this theory. i find it interesting that since december 14th of last year, every state has had at least one gun related death except for north dakota. i guess the positive news to come out of this is that we are down from our usual average of 40-ish gun deaths per day in 2012, but the year is still fresh....

The winter has been worse. Not as many people going outside, and therefore, not meeting as many other people.
And this is all pointless. The number of dead people from a particular method has absolutely zero significance. What is important is who they were and why they were killed. Most of the time, those would probably have happened without the guns anyway. The only significance of your post is to prove how easily people are impressed by numbers and pictures.
And by the way, if there are that many murders going on, we should start rolling back the gun "control" laws, so that law-abiding people have better chances to defend themselves.

That is a tragic number but the laws they are proposing would have stopped very few of those deaths

how many responsible owners are going to be selling out of the trunk of their car?

You will never stop or reduce violence. Ever

Perhaps, but we can still limit the damage done by controlling access to guns. *NM*

There's a gigantic difference between the "stop" and the "reduce" you so casually equate. *NM*

Is there? Without guns the rate of violence will fall heavily?

Yes, there is.

there are ways to reduce the violence but new guns laws are not one those ways

best that we enforce the current laws then, as obama has directed in his executive orders

violence, probably not as much as we would like. dead by gunshot? most assuredly so

that is true but that is no excuse for feel good laws that do nothing but restrict rights

I like how you say 'something more concrete' to describe 'nothing new'

i guess in this case "more concrete" means "not just swept under the rug anymore"

I don't believe it has ever been swept under the rug in our lifetimes

This has more to do with resenting all the "...and another thing!" threads on the subject of late.
