I'm a bit lost on account of something that happened today. I bought a game from an old school buddy that I'm now reasonably certain is stolen. I didn't realize it at the time (he said he got it as a gift, but was selling it because his laptop couldn't run it) but in hindsight I definately should have. It was cheap (I only paid a tenner for it) and he flat out admitted to having stolen other stuff from his workplace, and implied he could get stuff for me if I wanted.
And now I'm lost about what to do. I don't want to Rat on him because I sort of feel sorry for the guy. He dropped out of school after junior high, and has been doing various jobs after that. He also has over hundred grand debt (his girlfriend left him recently and their mutual apartment debt was in his name). If he got caught, in best case scenario he would lose his job, get criminal record and fines, and in worst case scenario he'd have to do time. I also have to confess that I'm afraid I'd get in trouble too. I'm currently unemployed and am not exactly a prize to prospective employers, so getting record would most likely completely ruin my chances of getting a job.
I feel really bad about this (partly because it's wrong to buy stolen goods, partly because I didn't realize it was stolen, when I definately should have, and partly because I'm afraid even though the risk of getting caught is non existent). I'm thinking of just tossing the game and forgetting about it, but I don't know. I could really use a little advice right about now.

I know it's not that big of a deal, and shouldn't bother me as much as it does, but I can't help it.

Throw it away now. Shame/guilt is unhealthy, regardless of whether it is earned or significant.
