I worked with a couple guys from Ghana the last few years before leaving the States. One of them went home during one of the plants annual shutdowns, and the local king had recently died, so the first week or two after the plant re-opened we joked that maybe our coworker had been named the new king and would not be returning. Apparently, the former would not necessarily have meant the latter; since King Peggy can rule her 7000 subjects from thousands of miles away, only returning one month out of the year, I suspect the title is largely ceremonial.
