When Bush took office in 2001, unemployment was about 4%. When he left office in 2009, unemployment had gone up to about 10%.

Since Obama took office in 2009, unemployment has gone down to about 8%.

Edit: It has come to light that the above numbers weren't entirely accurate:

Since Obama took office in 2009, unemployment went up as high as 10% and has been falling since then, and is currently at 8%.
