You should keep in mind the fact that a lot of these people will just out of high school. A good majority will ship off for bootcamp with in two months of graduating and will be on the first duty station with in a year of leaving high school.
Most submariners have been out of boot camp for 6 months to a year before reporting to their first boat. That being said if you are looking for maturity and professionalism you might not want to look to the sub community.
