If the schools that the children of our elected representatives attend are gaurded, so should mine. HyogaRott Send a noteboard - 26/12/2012 03:00:35 PM
One, it contributes to the idea of a culture of fear. Which is kind of a bombastic phrase, but I'm thinking of comments I've seen such as "Why should my kids have to be under armed guard?" Yes, having an officer or two is normal in some areas, but I believe it's abnormal in most.

Two, it doesn't really solve the problem. "Oh, okay, so now there's a guard at the school. Is there also going to be one at every church, every supermarket, every gathering of people anywhere?"

Instead of cops, I say use active duty (or active reserve) military. They could also perferm cerimonial activities at the schools (or teach ROTC classes), and it would be a good moral activity for soldiers returning home from conflict zones.

I do not see why calling for armed cops at schools is an unreasonable response. - 22/12/2012 04:53:06 PM 797 Views
