I doubt there will be enough people who can be swayed to make much of a difference, and the chance of them being able to make a difference will continue to decline as well. Most people tend to vote blindly along party lines. And while knee-jerk republicans decline in numbers, knee-jerk democrats continue to increase. I think politics will eventually evolve into a struggle between different factions of democrats, similar to how it is in Europe (replace "Democrats" with "liberals" ).
But I fully admit I could be wrong. We'll see.
