McMahon for saying taxpayer funded religious hospitals can deny rape victims morning after pills,
So wait, the Susan G Konnen foundation is evil for declining to fund an organization because of that organization's main purposes has little or nothing to do with SGK's raison d'etre, but it's just fine for all the important work and genuine medical emergencies and real problems being taken care of at a hospital to be defunded, because they decline to provide a luxury drug in defiance of their moral principles (the same religious ideals that made them open a hospital in the first place)? It's just fine for the government to deny funds intended to support medical emergencies and other health and medical issues pertaining to the general welfare of the people as a whole (almost 50% of whom will absolutely never need a morning after pill, but do have shorter life expectancies and tend to hold more dangerous jobs), over hospitals sticking to religious principles on the subject of luxury treatments...but it's evil for the Catholic Church to close down or stop supporting those same institutions when intrusive legislation forces her to fund institutions and relationships that have been explicitly against its rules for two millenia.
I never said they should be denied funding, only that they should not withhold the benefits of that funding from those with genuine need. And, of course, that the implication there are "emergency" and "non-emergency" rapes is on the same level as "non-forcible rape" and "illegitmate rape."
Again, the Republican Partys epidemic of saying, "yes, but..." about congressman after congressmans supporting abortion bans with NO exceptions highlights rather than obscures the party-wide support for banning abortion with NO exceptions. It is painfully clear a vote for a Republican Congressman, Senator, Vice President or President is a vote for the federal government outlawing all abortion, regardless of reason.
Bullshit. What exactly have they ever done in that direction beyond campaign speeches, and trimming some of the more outrageous procedures?
Co-sponsor (in Akins case, write,) a federal ban on abortion even for rape victims? That covers three GOP incumbent Congressmen, including the VP and MO Senate nominees. Romney responded by saying the only reason he would not deligtedly sign that law is Congress will not pass it, so most of the GOP is trying to "fix" that.
