Granted, Romney trotted out "apology tour" (in which he narrowed the scope of his inaccuracy from before) and "5.4% unemployment" (in which, while the figure is inaccurate, he still makes a valid overall point about Obama's hyperbolic campaign promises in 2008).
Romney said bin Laden was not worth moving heaven and earth to get; he said exactly the opposite mere days later, but we already knew Romney flip flops a lot.
He also wrote an op ed demanding Detroit go bankrupt; he suggested they would avoid liquidation thanks to private investor help, but when Obama took office the economy was plummeting and every single investor asked—including Romneys own Bain Capital—turned the Big Three down flat: Without a government bailout they would have gone into Chapter 7 liquidation and no longer exist.
Obama did not make any of that up; they are statements Romney made, and if the only defense is "candidates say a lot of things during campaigns they really do not mean," what does that suggest about Romneys conflicting promises now?
