I put it that way because that's the way he told me. After we were on a date, and after we were all alone. It's a little disconcerting.
You could think that this means he's at least trying to be honest about it. Not too soon (at the moment when you meet, or during your first meal), not too late (when you have already found out about it yourself through other means).
The alone bit does sound wrong and would be a little more than just disconcerting.
To be completely honest, he was a complete gentleman and a really nice guy to me. In face, I'm still friends with him. There were other issues that came up that precluded any dating relationship with him beyond having dinner together a couple of times.
I was really just trying to give a giggle at the expense of my dating history, but I guess I should have put the humor tag on it instead...
