The little donate/premium ad in the top corner is about the most unobtrusive ad I've ever seen on a site. Blends right in. The Support the Site links on the bottom of the sidebar are also very unobtrusive, and I use the Book Depository link. Ben could easily plug the site up with worse ads than those to make a bit more money. Lots of room on that sidebar and along the top still.
I don't really like the Twitter box either, but only because it displaced the quotes down lower. At least anything in there blends in with the rest of the site too.
