So private insurance costs are really growing SIXTY percent faster?!
Joel Send a noteboard - 12/08/2012 04:24:49 AM
It covers folks over 65 which is a growing demo and will grow for decades. It is also set up to pay for services, which incentivizes folks to do more services thus increasing costs.
Time to take off your blinders. I know you are a devoted lib, but this program is destroying the nation and our generation will foot the entire bill.

Seriously, your response to stats on private insurance being far more expensive than Medicare is "Medicare is fraud"? Even if true, what does that say of private insurance that grossly underperforms it anyway? That maybe the real problem is the 20% (and growing...) of US GDP eaten by the insurance business (which cannot be called "industry," since it only shuffles paper for huge fees)?
Medicare worked fine for 50 years, and Social Security for 80 years, until a certain party slashed the formers funding and gave the latters massive surplus away as tax cuts so they could point to the resulting bankruptcy as "proof" the programs "failed." The only thing wrong with the previously effective programs is that we let people dedicated to their ruin ruin them; the simple solution is removing those people from power. The same is required to rein in runaway US healthcare costs (which are lower for Medicare than anywhere else, fraud or no) bankrupting the nation, so it is a good idea on principle.
However, debating this with you is pointless, since you will evidently just sit on the sidelines and complain if anyone but yourself is nominated for president. I guess it is easier to complain than contribute, even if it does America no good (and much harm.) I will leave it there, since this is going nowhere.
