Romney is asked a question about an issue he is very familiar with and gives an answer that is both honest and accurate and if you believe the American Press the Britis are one step away from refighting the war of 1812? Has the British psyche really become so fragile that they see an honest critique as a deep affront? Now I get that no one likes other people coming over and criticizing them but the critique was pretty mild and really amounted to “there have been problems and we will have to wait and see how well the people of London come together.” So are the people of London really that upset or are their politicians just using this to try and get London to come together.
Hell all he did was mention some very well publicized issues and complimented the athletes, complimented the volunteers and said the rest is up to London. Now you can argue about the political wisdom of his words but not really the accuracy of them. So let’s agree he was dumb to have worded his response the way he did but I am talking about the reaction of the people England or least the portrayal of it by the morning news shows in the US.
Am I misreading this? I am only seeing the US media coverage of what he said and they are tripping over themselves trying to change the subject after the Obama “you didn’t build this” remarks. If Obama, who has treated the UK like an unwanted second cousin at the reading of the will, had said the same thing would they still be as offended? Has the UK become so focused on the US politics that they can’t escape the blind partisan stupidity that affects so many over here where the political party of the sinner is more important than the sin? Do they just not like Romney?
I am pretty sure some will take offense to what I have said but I really am genuinely curious and a bit surprised by the reaction which extends to point where the Prime Minster felt the need to comment about the man who has around a 50-50 chance of being the next leader of the free world.

That was what it seemed like to me. The "Mr. Leader" thing was sort of funny, though.
