... I don't know if most of what you said is true or not. However I think it's actually closer to two in every five songs on the radio has to be Canadian. I believe 35 percent is the lowest Canadian content you can have. This applies to television shows as well, 35 percent have to be Canadian-made. This serves to keep an entertainment industry running in Canada when otherwise it might be smothered by the pervasive American entertainment industry. On the plus side, there are a lot of good Canadian singers, such as Matthew Good, Barenaked Ladies, Feist, Arcade Fire, the lead lady in Metric, etc. It's not all Justin Bieber and Celine Dion. If we didn't legislate that Canadian singers be given plenty of airtime, perhaps fewer would develop their talents.
