We have two options, as I see it: 1) Wear big boy pants; 2) Hide lots of posts.

I don't hide or remove people's posts, but I've never been one to use ignore lists on forums, either. I don't agree with all of my friends, and I don't demand that they all agree with me. Some of them are dead wrong in their worldviews, IMO, but that doesn't mean I can't handle seeing their posts. People need to stop being so over-sensitive.
The only person I'd consider trying to hide, but not remove, is a cousin of mine. It turns out that he's kind of a big perv, because my "suggested likes/follows/whatever" sidebar is filled with half-naked women, and he's always the only mutual friend following them. He's family, though, so I'm not looking to remove him. I'd just like a way to filter suggested content. The guy has almost 4,000 likes, so the chance of me hitting 'X' enough times by each one and stopping it is very low.
Honestly, the most annoying thing on Bookface is when people use it to talk about how crappy they think their lives are. (see: first world problems or stupid relationship decisions) It's simultaneously entertaining and horrifying to see into people's minds when they do self-destructive things. Saying something to them usually gets a MYOB kind of response, even if you did it out of genuine concern. Oh, and George Takei is kind of annoying. Politics aside, he just posts things from other people and isn't making any of it himself, AFAIK. And while I don't "like" him on there, I still see like 5-6 likes of his content per day from friends. But, hey... whatever, right?
So, yeah -- I pick my battles very, VERY carefully on FB. People can get very touchy when you post/comment to disagree with something on their wall. It's like a forum, except more territorial.

The sword might be grateful to the forge fire, but never fond of it.

Because he's your only offensive player who seems at all effective?

Hasn't he got a reputation for being able to start a fight in an empty room though?

Facebook is about the casual insulting of opposed political, religious and social viewpoints.
