That dog should have been put down. I'm not sure where our society got the idea to save every deformed piece of life we come across. What ever happened to mercifully killing a deformed or screwed up pet? I think many Americans would be shocked to find out that the rest of the world doesn't "rescue" fucked up animals. Lol.
Although you definitely find deformed puppies/kittens that grow up to live totally normal lives. Cats with cerebellar hypoplasia are a good example. They walk around like drunken sailors and have crappy balance, but in an average home where there aren't coyotes to snap them up, they get along just as well as a normal cat.
But ah...going through exceptional effort for a deformed animal is...misguided in my opinion.
