somehow i don't see romney having much credibility versus obama moondog Send a noteboard - 16/03/2012 02:16:32 PM
Obviously, there is no way that ANYONE would be better than Obama - a crazy homeless guy, for example, is probably not better, nor a random stoner guy who emulates "The Dude" all the time, nor a serial killer. Obviously, "anyone" is always qualified.

However, saying "anyone but Obama" is basically a way of saying that the Republicans will make the election a referendum on Obama, i.e., Obama vs. Whoever. My point is that the strategy works if the candidate is moderate enough. Romney could pull that off, but Santorum could never turn the election into a referendum on Obama because he's just too radical.

we're talking about a guy who has off-shore tax havens, was for universal health care before he was against it, changed his mind on several key issues -- sometimes within *weeks* during this campaign so far, and has nearly zero connection to average voters. the only reason anyone wants to vote for him is because he is not obama.

you have said you would vote for him, please give a reason why other than he is a republican and he is not obama. i am not saying this for spite, i am truly interested what kind of appeal he has outside of the "anyone but obama" realm.
