Only because and to the extent they have already committed themselves. Joel Send a noteboard - 03/03/2012 03:41:39 AM
In politics more than almost anywhere else, there is little point in talking to someone whose mind cannot be changed. It is regrettable that results in candidates giving many states little consideration. However, all but the most partisan states still receive at least limited campaigning (when Obama infamously told a 2008 OR crowd he had visited all but one state in the continental US, accidentally saying, "fifty-seven" instead of "forty-seven" spawned laughter and conspiracy theories that still continue.) However, as with many of the objections raised to the Electoral College, a direct popular vote would only exacerbate rather than reduce states being ignored.

IMHO, parliaments choosing prime ministers is LESS democratic than the electoral college. - 03/03/2012 05:57:41 AM 698 Views
