Honestly, I feel like in any conversation about game piracy, everyone involved in the conversation should both understand Steam and at least used it for a bit. If you don't know what Steam is, you're coming to the conversation woefully underinformed.
(That doesn't mean you have to love Steam, just that it's so important that not knowing about it makes your opinion more or less obsolete. It's like arguing about what to do about DVD sales and never trying Netflix.)
