I will skip the semi-obligatory "kids are starvin' in Japan" comments; it is time I could spend re-learning how to color stick figures.... 
it's not like the money is going to the "make rich burlew filthy rich" campaign. he has set very tangible goals for reprinting all 7 books in his catalog, added a coloring book, stickers, expansion packs for his board game based on oots, and people still keep on giving money. as of right now, he's raised $1million *over* the initial amount he was asking for, with an average donation of roughly $85 each. impressed is definitely the correct emotion, considering how poor gamers claim to be all the time
Yeah, I am just a bit amazed, especially at the SPEED with which he did it. If he HAD chosen to be a greedy SOB he could have kept it going for six months instead of one and probably never again have had to work a day in his life. And we are not talking about a feverish bout of stocktrading or a best selling novel, just a a few months of online fundraising from whoever reads his webcomic, in exchange for, what, MAYBE a half million dollars worth of printing and shipping costs? Instead of going in his pocket the rest is going to support OotS for the foreseeable future, but, wow... one MONTH of fundraising did that, with just a few websites rather than a Jerry Lewis holiday telethon. Maybe he SHOULD consider philanthropy if he can get results that big that fast (though how sustainable it would be remains to be seen.)
