Also: you know I said our first dog will be a shelter dog? That's because in the fulness of time I'd like a Newfoundland and they're a bit harder to find in shelters. But that's a long time in the future, once there are no tiny children. We'll have shleter dogs before that.
I am sure they would be hard to find. I am already on the lookout for schnauzer rescue groups, because that is what I want. If I can't find one, I'll be sad - haven't decided yet if I will then get one from a breeder.
I can imagine that finding any specific kind of dog would be kind of difficult. Could you ask at the vet? Or at a Kennel Club? They might have ideas.
I'd like our first dog(s) to be a mongrel. Preferably with Labrador in there somewhere, but not too fussy. My dog (that I had to get put down) was a Border Collie/mongrel mix and though naughty she was lovely. I miss her.
