I do not deny it happens, but I do not believe it the norm.

I don't think in many instances the issues are with the people you say are working all those jobs. It's my peer group, and those slightly older.
As I said when nossy responded, it is not uncommon with folks in their late teens to mid-twenties, often just out of college and/or with the luxury of running home to live with and be fed by mom and dad. However, I do not think that accounts for many of the 10 million or so unemployed Americans, and certainly not the even greater number working part time (hence not too good to work) for whatever they can find while seeking full time work. Very few people having their homes foreclosed, wondering how to feed their kids or send them to college, are from your age group, and none are above work that would pay that mortgage and feed those kids.
Sure, there are folks a few years out of HS who would rather live in their parents basement/attic than get a job and support themselves. However, I think there are more folks eager, nay, desperate to work so they can support their FAMILIES as well as themselves.

Well, you're both presenting the far sides of the situation, surprisingly enough.

According to the NYT article "nothing like Foxconn City exists in the United States."

It will be acceptable as long as the US remains a market for products made that way.

Are you saying the US should heavily subsidize its supplies like the Chinese government does?

The difference is there would be tremendous hue and cry over such subsidies in the US.

Of course not. Where did I even say anything about that?

You did not say it, but citing the importance of cheaper supplies suggests it.
