Cats do not scratch to defend themselves for they have the power of teleportation (which they can use as an immediate action as long as they are not flat footed). Thus they do never fear stupid "hoomins."

Cats only scratch "hoomins" when they are annoyed by them, you must be a good human to receive so little scratches from your feline masters :P
