I think there are always dumb, idiotic, even sadistic people in any armed forces (same applies to quite a few professions). When I asked my dad, a Vietnam vet, what he thought, he said that while he was disappointed in their behavior, he knew of soldiers that would piss, shit, or even cut off the penises of dead Viet Cong just to vent their frustration and hatred at the enemy. It's nothing new, but it is only recently that those who used to only take "trophy pics" gained the ability to post on YouTube.
