I think accessories are wonderful. And I had a kickass gift season. Aeryn Send a noteboard - 28/12/2011 04:36:21 PM
For last season, the secret Santa from our group got me a very lovely set of little notebooks, but to my shame, I haven't got around to using them yet.

You're right though - nice accessories make the best presents. I'm very happy with the wallet mother gave me for my birthday (with money in it!). I, do, however, feel like I have enough scarfs. Maybe I could use new gloves in a year or so. I have enough plants. Teas (various fancy loose ones) would make a great present now, and they aren't cheap! (Someone stole my can of jasmine tea I kept in the office cupboard :( )

So, stuff I got:

1. iPad 2 32G (wifi)
2. Alvin Ailey performance - totally awesome and unexpected
3. Kindle Touch + unlimited free books. This was nominally for my birthday, but it feels like I got it for Christmas. How do you beat something like that? Best gift ever.

The interesting thing is that it's relatively easy to get a small to mid range gift for Anastasia: beatiful diaries/notebooks, little practical but stylish accessories such as wallets, tea related stuff, art that'll match the decor, plants in pots, flowers in pots, and trees in pots and did I mention plants? Clothing- but only if you are me, meaning you both know her tastes and you can also try it on to make sure it'll fit perfectly. You have to be sure because a gift receipt and the option of exchange is not a gift, it is an obligation and a chore.

It only gets really hard to get her a gift if you want to get a large gift, which is why my parents have a lot of trouble. It'd be weird to spend over $100 on a gift for me and get her a $30 plant, even though she'd probably be more happy with it than whatever expensive gift they come up with. Theoretically, something like gloves and scarves would be great but only if your tastes are as expensive as hers. I wouldn't trust myself to pick out gloves for my sister because I don't see a difference between my gloves and hers but hers are way more expensive so I just don't have the eye for it.

I already posted about what I got- it's just that no one responded to that post :(
