I rewrite a lot, especially on longer pieces. One of those rewrites involved removing commentary on those specific five points, I kinda regret scrubbing those in favor of what is in many ways a fairly vague commentary. Ah well, such is life.

We're pretty much in agreement here except presumably, as you point out, minor specific details. Partially I was and am deliberately exaggerating certain effects for the point of illustration, you know my preference for the absurd or arcane when picking my analogies. Again I'm not actually saying there aren't some very marked and genuine aspects to certain age groups though they tend to have whole wads of categories, I'm just warning people off over-generalizing and trying to translate those effects onto stuff like OWS. Also, words have power and can make for self-fulfilling prophecies, just like various stuff like astrology or the placebo, if you tell people enough that they possess certain traits they often accept it as true. I think a lot of Baby Boomers view themselves as having more of that trait package ascribed to them then is really the case, ditto Gen-X etc.
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.

It's really mostly correct, and also highlights why OWS was a total failure. - 27/11/2011 05:44:15 PM 868 Views

The whole concept of 'Generation' is a near total fiction - 27/11/2011 08:49:28 PM 850 Views
I disagree, but think generational influences are often oversimplified. - 28/11/2011 02:14:07 AM 888 Views
I like that you're citing that your citing the stuff I was clearly staring at in my own post - 28/11/2011 04:33:57 AM 1083 Views
Well, without a cite there is no way to know if we are looking at the same stuff. - 28/11/2011 06:27:29 AM 1094 Views
