But plugging in the USB stick into the laptop is so much easier than finding a cord to connect laptop to TV, then TV to amp/speakers. In my version, also only one cord.
It's easier to set up initially, but not on an ongoing basis. Plug in HDMI vs plug in monitor cable + find and plug in USB stick. I certainly recognize that you're not talking lots of effort either way, I was just trying to answer the complaint about the tv speakers not being great.
As far as speakers for the regular TV, that has some appeal, but I gotta figure out how to do it. That "some way" means research and buying cables. And it'd darned unlikely it will happen - no impetus, since everything already works fine.
Honestly it's nowhere near as difficult as it sounds. You look at the ports on your speakers, and you look at the ports on your tv, and you see if any of them match. If they do, buy a $5 cable (monoprice.com, amazon, etc).
Anyway, if you're happy, there's no reason to change, but there are other options out there.
