I was just curious if should consider all G stars equally when ti comes to the chance to support life. And yes my astrophysics knowledge is dated. I never had more than a layman's understanding of the field and never really found the more than mildly interesting. Come up with a way to get to one of the stars and that would change in a hurry
I'm in something of the same boat, it was a big passion of mine growing up but now is more of one of mild if steady interest. On the G stars I would say that minus binaries (even with 'Tatooine' in play) or those packed in dense clusters the odds are pretty much the same, at least for Population I G stars like our sun. This would tend to be the ideal pool to search but I'd definitely not rule out K and F stars having planets with complex life either.
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.

Well just look at the history of Earth. And the cultural/advancement disparity would be FAR greater. *NM*

In one particular space opera, it's a mix and probably the best situation possible for humans.

Unless their advancement is so great they are VERY ethically enlightened, her fears seem valid.
