I was just curious if should consider all G stars equally when ti comes to the chance to support life. And yes my astrophysics knowledge is dated. I never had more than a layman's understanding of the field and never really found the more than mildly interesting. Come up with a way to get to one of the stars and that would change in a hurry


I'm in something of the same boat, it was a big passion of mine growing up but now is more of one of mild if steady interest. On the G stars I would say that minus binaries (even with 'Tatooine' in play) or those packed in dense clusters the odds are pretty much the same, at least for Population I G stars like our sun. This would tend to be the ideal pool to search but I'd definitely not rule out K and F stars having planets with complex life either.
