our solar system is located nearish the tip of our galaxy's spirals. perhaps its more difficult/ impossible for the creations of planets to happen closer to the center of one. perhaps being near the edge is the best place for life to form because there are less stars and therefore less radiation, gravitational pulls, galaxy spin, heat ect.
