How about it was the 10th anniversary, it was the official opening of the memorial, and people still remember that day with horror and have yet to dismiss the tragedy that it was. You know, people with at least a sliver of a heart remaining in their bodies. Or a soul.
If you don't like it, tune out. If you feel it's being forced on TV, don't watch. Simple.
What happened in the subsequent decade means nothing, what your personal political views are means nothing, what one thinks of Iraq, Afghanistan, Bush or Obama means nothing. That's not why we mourn, that's not why we remember, that's not at all what this was about.
Some of you are in desperate need of a reality check.

I think, sir, that you are incorrect. I have little doubt that a vast majority of what has been going on to remember 9/11 wasn't to mourn, it was because it was expected. That's not to say it all wasn't. Certain events were fine. I mean, opening the Memorial and some coverage for that is fine and dandy. Turning it into almost a National Holiday is simply despicable.
I don't think Dannymac is being heartless or soulless. He's stating the truth. Personally I'm borderline sickened by the way we've taken advantage of the tragedy to each make ourselves look better and feel better about ourselves. There was no reason every sports team had to do a tribute, no reason random children with no involvement who were barely even born at the time of the tragedy should be reading speeches about it.
Your mom. That's right. The cat is out of the bag. Your mom.

I think it is time for the United States, as a nation, to stop mourning 9/11.
