I have some notion of how the fiction publishing industry works, but non-fiction? Not a clue. Do you write something and then shop it around? Do you try to get a deal in advance with the idea and samples? Do you have to be some sort of expert? I haven't the foggiest. Also, I think companies such as Doris-Kindersley have a better handle on this sort of thing than anything I could produce. Their books do that professional-production and tons-of-photos thing, and are very slick and cool. They don't have one quite like this though. They have an organized book of animals, but it's full of dry facts. And they have a book of cool animal stuff, but it's all random. Still, I don't plan anything as elaborately produced as what they do. Just text and linked pictures.

I appreciate the sentiment though! It's nice to know that you feel I could be successful at something like that.
