Doesn't matter because Ron Paul doesn't appeal to enough republican primary voters to face Obama

That poll just tells us people are unhappy with Obama to such an degree that they have moved to the "anyone but Obama stage". That anyone still has to win the primaries and Obama is not running in them. Polls like this are why I think Perry has a shot even though in any other year I would call him unelectable. Perry is extreme but not so extreme that he can't win the republican primaries if people think he can win the general and his mouth doesn't disqualify him. Primaries are about narrowing the chooses for the general election and it doesn't matter if you have more general appeal if you can't get through the primaries. There is no reason to believe Ron Paul will do much better this time than he has in any of the other times he has run. Ron Paul has very dedicated fans but he has almost no support outside that limited fan base. Ron Paul likes telling the truth as he sees it to his supporters but one thing he won't tell them is he has no chance of winning and he is just using the primaries as a vehicle to get out his message. Who knows Ron Paul may be right but it doesn't matter because he is not saying anything the majority of people want to hear.
Gallup: it's a close one atm
