If you could map occurances of this issue it wouldn't surprise me to see high incincidence occuring in Eastern Europe. Most of what I have heard about it has come from there... Odd, wouldn't you agree? Might suggest an issue Chrome could be having reporting back to base, especially if it's only an intermittant issue.
I do know of one person who cannot use it anymore no matter what they do (including a brand new computer). This will baffle me to my dying day because to put it bluntly there is very little that I can't diagnose, let alone fix, but this has me beat.

List of the usual fixes that you may have tried but should always try again:
- Clear your cookies / cache
- Try deleting and re-installing, and make sure you are on the latest version. I understand v10 has some speed issues but you should already be past that now.
- Test with another browser if possible to see if it really is a Chrome issue
- No security at work? There really ought to be, who knows what evil may be lurking and causing grief. Is there any chance of you being able to install some freebies like Malwarebytes, Adaware...
