Dems used to chase the evangelical vote, and the Church never should've permitted a political coup. Joel Send a noteboard - 15/08/2011 09:22:53 AM
Keep in mind they assume everyone on the right is either a religious nut or worships the almighty dollar, that's the downside of buying into your own propaganda I suppose.

the super Christians usually are Republicans..It wasnt a Democratic Governor that just had a big prayer rally asking God to send Rain (BTW it rained in Houston today, so Perry just might have God on his side), and Democrats dont usually go after the Evangelical vote, thats all republican territory. ITs the reason Fox is always playing up the so called War on Christianity /Christmas

The overtly political takeover of the Southern Baptist Church in particular is perhaps the most shameful event that's ever occurred in our hometown, motivated by realization of the role the Church played in the Civil Rights movement, and the consequent awareness in politicians that they could make congregations a potent political weapons once they purged that awful liberal element. A hundred years ago, before they fought each over monkeys in TN, William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow were friends and long time allies in the fight for labor rights in no small part due to the formers appreciation of biblical calls for social justice. Today the gospel of wealth has displaced that among the many congregations that are PACs first and churches second (at best). The love of money is now the root of all GOOD, it seems. :[
