Time to start thinning the herd. Pawlenty is a good, competent candidate, but will never catch on. As for Palin, all signs point to the fact that she hasn't done anything whatsoever to launch a campaign.....no team, no hires, no money, etc.
Regarding Perry, I actually think this may help Romney. Perry will split the anti-Romney vote with Bachmann. To me, Perry is not as batsh!t as Bachmann, but I also don't think the nation is looking for a GWB clone (not saying in ability, but in personality and style).
My support for Romney/whoever most likely to beat Obama is based on pure partisanship.....i.e., we have to win. I am not enthusiastic about any GOP candidates (Christie, Haley, Rubio are too new, Barbour, Daniels, Jeb, and Thune never entered the race).
Disappointing.....

But I knew at the outset Romney could phone this in, and said so; the only real surprise is that a coalition of the corporations who run America and the LDS aristocracy who want to run it didn't put Romney in the White House four years ago. Then again, that was a very bad year for whoever was the eventual Republican nominee because whoever the Dems nominated could've phoned THAT one in, and Romneys presence gave him much needed national name recognition that's paying huge dividends now. As for Palin, she's not running for President, she's selling books and honoraria, which shows she's a lot smarter than a lot of people credit.
As for pure partisanship, well, that's about the only reason to back either partys candidates; they're both bought and paid for corporate lackeys whose policies consist entirely of crony capitalism and corporate welfare, so you'll get the policies you want even if a supposed "socialist" like Obama wins. Since that was your only antagonistic comment, I'll skip my impression of what supporting even the worst possible candidate just because they're Republicans says.

Dems used to chase the evangelical vote, and the Church never should've permitted a political coup.

It was 12.9%, which is pretty good for a Dem in a very red state during a very red year.

Isn't that almost the exact same numbers Obama lost by in Texas?

There's no "victory laurel" there. The Iowa straw poll is as irrelevant as lint in one's navel.

Largely true; it matters to people like Bachmann who need credibility, but to few others.

unnamed sources from left leaning news source? who could question that *NM*

It was a quote from Politico which is a left leaning news blog and the sources were unnamed
